Editorial

It is with great pleasure to release the first issue of the Sri Lankan Journal of Agriculture and Ecosystems (SLJAE) today, 30-08- 2019, published by Faculty of Agriculture, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.
The SLJAE with the ISSN 2673-1401 has just started its journey aiming to get Science Citation Index in future. At present, the Journal has free access and doesn’t levy article processing charges. The SLJAE strictly follows the peer reviewed process by sending each manuscript to two reviewers in the respective relevant field of the manuscripts. The main aim of the Journal is to publish the original scientific work related to strategic and applied studies in all aspects of Agricultural and Ecosystem. The SLJAE is in progress to get the DOI, SLJOL, four issues in a year and index in different journal citation sites. There are many people behind this success of publishing the current issue of the journal. This honour must go to Dr. A.M.J.B. Adikari, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, RUSL for his commitment to initiate the journal. The SLJAE would not have been possible without the contribution from members of editorial board, Dr. (Mrs) G.A.S.Ginigaddara, Dr.W.C.P.Egodawatte and Dr.S.C.Somasiri. The contribution and the dedication made by Mrs. Deshani Somarathne, Editorial Assistant, all the authors and the dedicated reviewers are greatly acknowledge.
The journal wishes to serve as national and international forum for all issues in relation to Agriculture and Ecosystem. The inaugural issue contains ten manuscripts including one from Nigeria addressing mostly the issues in relation to crops, soil, water, agricultural machinery requirements, and animal husbandry.
At last, it is expected that you will find all the articles published in the Journal are useful in your research and it would stimulate more valuable research further and we invite you to submit your research articles or a review as a full paper or short communication for the publication of SLJAE in future.
